Neurosciences Center at Alvarado Hostipal
The UCSD Neuroscience Center at Alvarado Hospital is a comprehensive clinical neurology practice with two full time general neurologists, Dr. Patrick Delaney, and Dr. Sean Evans, a part time movement disorder specialist, Dr. David Song, and a full time neurosurgeon, Dr. David Barba. We are able to care for complex patients with a wide variety of neurologic diagnoses, involve patients in clinical trials, and provide on-site neurophysiologic testing, including electromyography, nerve conduction studies, and electroencephalography. Having UCSD neurologists and a neurosurgeon in the Center allows for seamless transitions in the pre- and post-operative phases of care. Drs. Delaney and Evans, in conjunction with the UCSD Stroke Program, also provide continuous emergency and inpatient consultation services at Alvarado Hospital. Together, they provide care to over 1,500 new patients per year. Both are involved in clinical trials efforts, and are helping to bring cutting edge care to a community hospital setting.
The Center is a busy educational environment for the Neurosciences Department. Our doctors teach preclinical and clinical medical students as well as neurology, psychiatry, internal medicine, and neurosurgery resident physicians at Alvarado and at the UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. They have received multiple awards for their efforts. The physicians of the Center also contribute to the greater East County and university communities, helping provide physician and allied health care personnel with continuing education programs, participating in patient outreach events, and serving on multiple university and community committees and advisory boards.
The UCSD Neuroscience Center at Alvarado welcomes new patients, and our doctors look forward to continuing service to their communities. Please contact us at 619-287-0147, for additional information.
